E-bike laws in five markets
What keeps an e-bike legally a bicycle in the US, Canada, the UK, the EU and Australia, read from the legislation and government pages, with every rule linked to its source.
This page explains the rules in plain English and is not legal advice. Laws change and local rules can be stricter, so check the official source for where you ride before you buy or ride.

How we check the catalogue
Each market page counts the bikes in our catalogue against that market's class, by listed top speed and the throttle and fast-class flags. It is a filter on seller listings, not a legal classification, and every market page says what it can and cannot see.
A listing is not a legal classification. Check the label on the bike and the rules where you ride.
